Emule Server List Auto Update ^hot^ Direct
Manual Configuration for Auto-Update
To ensure your eMule client consistently connects to reliable, non-fake servers, you can configure it to automatically update its server list upon every startup.
- Use KAD as primary network (it auto-bootsraps).
- Set one trusted server list URL from a known security-focused eMule site.
- Avoid “auto-update from any client” — that can be abused.
- Manually check every few months that the URL still exists.
- Use a small parser (Python with bencode or regex for ed2k links) to extract IP:PORT.
- Still in the Server options window, look for checkboxes at the bottom.
- Check the box: "Auto-update server list at startup".
- (Optional) Check the box: "Update server list when connecting to a server".
Note:
Historically reliable sources often include .met files hosted on security sites. Always scan any downloaded files or check user forums to ensure the URL is still trusted before adding it. emule server list auto update
- High Churn Rate: Legitimate server operators face legal pressure. A server that worked yesterday might be offline today.
- Fake Servers: Bad actors populate the network with fake servers designed to log IP addresses or serve corrupted data.
- Geographic Filters: Some servers block IP ranges from specific countries. A manual list might contain dozens of servers you cannot actually reach.
