The (Navionics) was a legacy high-definition nautical chart application for iPad. While this specific standalone version is no longer the primary offering—having been integrated into the unified Navionics Boating app—it was known for several core navigation and charting features. Cons:

• Performance on older tablets – On my 5-year-old iPad, v3.1 can be a bit sluggish when zooming in/out with full detail layers enabled. Works fine on newer hardware though.
• Subscription model – This version is part of the “active captain” subscription, so you’re paying annually. Make sure you’re okay with that – it’s not a one-time purchase.
• Occasional gaps – A few small Greek coves and Croatian marinas showed outdated or missing detail compared to official paper charts. Still, for 95% of cruising, it’s great.

SonarChart™ Compatibility

By the v3.1 era, Navionics had fully integrated its SonarChart technology. This feature allows the chart to dynamically update. As users motor over an area, their sonar logs depth data, which Navionics processes to refine the bathymetric map.
