While the original LGUP requires specific encrypted "models" and strictly matches firmware to your device's region, the Patched 1.17

Prior to the patched release, using LGUP was a risky endeavor. The official tool required a connection to LG's servers to verify the firmware file (.kdz or .tot) before flashing.
