The film was dubbed into Telugu due to the popularity of the fantasy genre in the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana).
Despite its grand scope, Jack the Giant Slayer was a box office disappointment. Budgeted at $185–195 million, it earned only $197 million worldwide, barely breaking even. Critics praised the visual effects, the charismatic performance of Ewan McGregor, and Bill Nighy’s menacing voice work. However, they criticized the script for being too generic and the tonal shifts between lighthearted adventure and dark horror.
King Brahmwell (Ian McShane) sends his elite guard, led by the loyal knight Elmont (Ewan McGregor), to rescue the princess. Jack is forced to join them as a guide. Meanwhile, Lord Roderick, who knows the giant legend, tags along to steal the magic crown for himself. Upon reaching the land of the giants—a visually stunning, gloomy kingdom—the party is captured. General Fallon (voiced by Bill Nighy) is awakened, and the giants plan to descend the beanstalk and conquer the human world.
