If water resources permit, a fish pond is a vital component. Pond water, rich in fish excreta and nutrients, is used for irrigating crops. The embankments of the pond are used for growing fodder grass or fruit trees. - Place the cattle shed near the biogas plant. Place the biogas plant slightly uphill from the fish pond (so slurry flows by gravity).
- Plant tall trees on the west side (to block hot afternoon sun).
- Locate the compost pit near the vegetable garden to reduce carrying labor.
