Emerging from the dust was an old man in a faded brown jacket, holding a whip. It was a retired archaeologist who had set up the Tamilyogi "glitch" as a test to find someone worthy of protecting the site from modern looters.
Technically a prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark , the story follows Dr. Jones, his young sidekick Short Round (Ke Huy Quan), and nightclub singer Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw). After a harrowing escape from Shanghai, they crash-land in India, where a desperate village begs them to find a sacred stone and rescue their stolen children from a Thuggee cult in the sinister Pankot Palace. Tamil cinema has a long history of "Action-Adventure" films, and Temple of Doom fits the mold perfectly. When dubbed into Tamil, the witty banter between Indy and Short Round takes on a local flavor that resonates with the "Mama-Mapillai" (Uncle-Nephew) dynamic common in Kollywood.
