Apps stay open longer. You won't see the "Reload" circle in Instagram or Twitter as often.
- Samsung Ecosystem: Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, and Galaxy Wearables (for Buds/Watch) will break. Workarounds exist for Wearables, but not for Pay.
- Camera Quality: The stock Samsung camera HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) is proprietary. On custom ROMs, you use the stock camera app (or GCam). Photo quality drops slightly—low-light shots have more noise. Use GCam 8.4 to recover 90% of the quality.
- SELinux Status: Most custom ROMs run Permissive (or Enforcing with hacks). Some corporate apps (Outlook, Teams on Intune) might refuse to run. Magisk + Shamiko usually fixes this.
- Tripped Knox: Flashing a custom ROM trips the e-fuse. Samsung Pay will never work again, even if you flash back to stock. Warranty is void (irrelevant for a 2018 phone).
