Faarax Nuur was born in 1927 in the town of Las Anod, Somaliland. He came from a literary family and was exposed to Somali poetry and literature from an early age. His father, Nuur, was a well-known poet and scholar who played a significant role in introducing Faarax Nuur to the world of literature. Faarax Nuur's early education was traditional, and he learned Arabic and Islamic studies from a local teacher. Later, he attended a modern school in Hargeisa, where he developed an interest in writing and poetry.
