The play’s sharpest writing comes in its depiction of social hypocrisy. In one searing scene, Kavya’s prospective mother-in-law declares, “Hum rishta nahi, pedigree dekhte hain” (We don’t look at the relationship, we look at the pedigree). The playwright uses the Gujarati upper-caste obsession with kul (lineage) as a weapon. Kavya is not rejected for her own actions but for her biological origin.
