Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Downloading is no longer possible through official digital storefronts like Steam or the EA App, as Electronic Arts (EA) delisted the game and its DLC on April 28, 2023. Furthermore, the official multiplayer servers were permanently shut down on December 8, 2023. Current Ways to Play
- Error: "The game is not available in your region" – Some Asian and EU digital storefronts have hidden the game. Use a VPN set to the USA or UK to purchase, then download, then turn off the VPN.
- Error: "Installation stuck at 99%" – Pause the download, restart the EA App, and click "Resume." The app struggles with legacy manifest files.
- Error: "DirectX Setup failed" – Go to the install folder >
__Installer > directx > redist. Run DXSETUP.exe manually.
Download Size and Time
- Total Destruction: Unlike modern Battlefields where only specific walls break, BC2 let you level an entire building with a tank shell. Every wall. Every roof. Every tree.
- Sound Design: The crack of the M24 sniper rifle or the roar of the M1 Abrams tank is arguably unmatched in gaming history.
- No Bloat: No Battle Pass. No skins that glow neon pink. No grappling hooks. Just iron sights, tactics, and skill.
- Project Rome: With vanilla master servers still active but clunky, the community has created launchers to keep the game alive.
- Open EA App or Steam (Bundle).
- Purchase Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
- Download (5-7 GB).
- Manually install PunkBuster.
- Install Project Rome Launcher.
If you purchased the game before 2023, you can still download and install it from your Steam or EA library. Physical Media: Download Battlefield- Bad Company 2
