DNV Phast Tutorial — Updated (April 10, 2026)
Step 4.1: Jet Fire from the Rupture
Modernized Interface
: A user-friendly, intuitive workspace designed to make complex study setups faster.
- Go to
Analysis > Atmospheric.
- Do not use the default "Pasquill" without checking your regional regulator. The updated tutorial recommends using Site-specific meteorological data (Metocean files) or the ISO-standard wind rose method.
- Critical Update: For LNG or cryogenic releases, toggle on the new "Heat Transfer from Ground" model (enabled by default in v10+). Older tutorials ignored ground freezing, leading to 40% under-prediction of pool evaporation.
Step 7: Reporting – The New "Explorer" Output
- Navigate to
File > Preferences > Units.
- Select your primary system (Metric/SI is preferred for dispersion; Imperial for certain US onshore facilities).
- Updated Tip: Under
Output Options, enable "Detailed UDM Diagnostics." This helps debug convergence failures—a common frustration in older versions that would just crash.
