API Specification 11P
(officially titled Specification for Packaged Reciprocating Compressors for Oil and Gas Production Services ) is the industry standard for the design, fabrication, and testing of reciprocating compressors used in oil and gas production.
- Cylinders must be designed for at least 1.5 times the MAWP (hydrostatic test pressure).
- Valves must be accessible for maintenance without removing major piping.
- Distance pieces (the spacer between cylinder and frame) must include purge connections for toxic or flammable gases.
